More new art

I loved making this piece.  It's filled with a zillion layers of acrylic and then I used Shiva oil paint sticks for the hearts.  Such creamy joy to my fingers!

LOVE getting mail!

Look at my mail yesterday:
Just a little order that I placed with Donna Downey Studios.  That heart foam stamp has been out of stock every time I tried to order it.  I finally got lucky!  The lovely pink and white goodies are called "artist on the go" kit.  The presentation was the real reason I had to have it;D

Fall Fun

So, yesterday I decided instead of spending my time on the computer, to get into my workshop and make art.  When I took the TCC class offered by Melody Ross, it was the first time I played with black paint.  I think I was afraid of it.  So, I had this background painting I had made a few weeks ago and hated -- perfect for my black background experiment.

Fall is my favorite time of year and I LOVE sunflowers.  This collage was just fun to make.  I used a lot of fabric and the sunflower was made with 3 pages of book paper, hand-drawn and cut out, the middle sheet is colored with yellow/orange liquid ink and the top layer is collaged with scrapbook papers and then a layer of liquid ink on top.
I guess it's time for the fall decor!

Friday Inspiration!

Don't you just love inspiration?  I DO!  So this morning, as I was drinking my morning cup of joe and catching up on some of my peeps online, I came across this beautiful journal entry from my new friend Brenda.

Now, how adorable is this?!!  I love the colors, detail, flowers, quotes, ALL OF IT!  So, this is my springboard of inspiration that will carry me through an art-filled weekend!  By the way, Brenda has an awesome blog, so be sure to check her out at http://lafiorevida.blogspot.com/ .  Be sure to tell her I sent you:)

My Favorite Online Class - Part 2

When at The Creative Connection (TCC) event, I had the good fortune of taking a class with and meeting Melody Ross and her sister Kathy Wilkens.  I have come to know these two ladies because of a wonderful, special online class they offer through their company Brave Girls Club.  It all started with Soul Restoration I which I started in January of this year.  All I can say is, WOW!  This class was just what I needed at the right time in my life.  (Don't you just love it when things happen that way;)

Soul Restoration is all about soul rejuvenation with the help of some personal crafting projects.  Melody and Kathy are two amazing women with enough passion and conviction to share their messages with everyone.  My life will never be the same thanks to them.  EVERY woman at EVERY age needs to take this course.

The course is online and self-paced, delivered by private videos.  To find out more, checkout their website at Brave Girls Club.

TCC Marketplace

The marketplace at The Creative Connection was so inspirational.

I bought Dottie Angel's new book.  Awesome!

So cute!
My new friend and fellow KRR Flyer, Kris Lanae had a booth there to sell her amazing jewelry.

Kris had such an amazing, beautiful booth.  And her jewelry!!!  I bought a piece from her and will have to take a picture and show you another day.  If you can't wait, go to her site and check it out!

I'll be back tomorrow with more;D

What a Crazy, Awesome Couple of Days!

If you are a creative fool like me, then you MUST save your money to attend next year's The Creative Connection event in Minneapolis.  I attended this amazing event all day Friday, and I just wish I would have been there Thurs through Saturday.  I don't want to make this post long, so I'll tell you different bits about it within the next few days.

The first morning panel I attended was on self-publishing.  The amazing women on the panel were Amy Powers of Inspire Co., Terry Walters, Clean Food and Clean Start, Janine Vangool, Uppercase and Amy Barickman, Vintage Notions.
Each of these women are very inspirational, and were very generous in sharing their self-publishing experiences.  I have followed Amy Powers' blog for at least a year, so it was such an honor to meet her and talk in person.  She is just as sweet in person as she is online!

More Creative Connection event info tomorrow!

My Favorite Online Class - Part 1

Within the past year I have truly become addicted to online classes.  I just can't get enough!  So I thought it would be worthwhile for me to review some of my favorite classes for you.

Anytime someone asks me which online classes I like, one name comes to mind -- Christy Tomlinson.  Christy is the owner of Scarletlime.com, a mixed media shop and kit club.  The best definition of Christy is "one cutie-kapootie"!  Aside from Christy's great eye for color and adorable artwork, she is one of those "what you see is what you get" kind of gals.  And that is why I love her classes!

The first class I took of Christy's was "She Art".  This mixed media class has plenty of videos where Christy walks you through how she creates her She Art canvases.  Then I took her "She Had 3 Hearts Journaling Class".  This class is LOADED with videos where Christy teaches you how to use a ton of different mixed media products.  So, so wonderful!  I have learned so much from this girl!  Next, I took her "Creative Color Workshop".  This class helped me tremendously because now I have a point of reference for my favorite color schemes, instead of just winging it.

Last week Christy announced her next class, "She Art 2", and you guessed it -- I was first in line to sign up;D If you want to get a feel for Christy's teaching style, head on over to her blog and check out her tutorials.  She regularly features "Behind the Art", which is where she posts a video tutorial.  Awesome stuff!

Don't forget to come back here and tell me how much you love Christy!

My Fellow Flyers are AWESOME!

Today was the finale of Kelly Rae Roberts Flying Lessons.  Over 300 of us participated in this online course and I feel like I have gained many sisters.  I hope we all stay in touch for years to come.  One of them was even kind enough to invite me to share a hotel room with her next week when I go to The Creative Connection in MN.  I doubt we will sleep;D

If you are an inspiring creative business person, I highly recommend you watch for the next time Kelly offers her online class.  She openly and honestly shares so much about her journey to becoming a successful business owner.  So refreshing!

Here's just a fun project that I worked on for the fun of it last week.  Enjoy!

Never Techy Enough!

Some days no matter how many years of experience I have with computers I still find myself pulling my hair out. It's bad enough that I spend all day on a computer at work.  But then (especially tonight) I come home and spend the entire evening on the computer.  I need a break!

So, I ask that you bear with me.  I've been trying to make some blog and website changes and things never seem to go exactly as planned.  But, within the next two days I should have it complete and then I have a new series for you;D

Stay tuned....
